Grand opening celebrations continued at the field house this weekend in conjunction with Mosaic Place.

Times-herald photo by Samuel Dobrin Evan Jones winds up for a pass during a game of flag football at the field house Friday afternoon during its open house.Moose Javians were treated to free admission to both the artificial turf fields and the oval running tracks.

Despite having opened its doors at about the same time last year, customer service representative Kelly Ventresca said that at the time the doors opened, programming started right away which didn’t allow for an official launch.

“Now that the fitness centre is open, all units are operating and it just allows us now to celebrate the opening of the field house,” said Ventresca.

“Mosaic Place opened later than us, but we are one entity,” she added.

By early afternoon Friday, Ventresca said that over 300 people had made their way into the field house to take advantage of the free access.

One of those people was Bob Craig, who organizes a flag football league that uses the field house regularly.

“Everyone loves it, everyone wants to be out here and play,” said Craig.

“A lot of these guys don’t play soccer so this football league is going to be just something different for these guys to get out and do,” he said.

Ventresca said that what’s great about the field house is that toddlers as young as six months old or seniors as old as 100 years old can go in and enjoy the walking track or the turf.

“With the winter weather there’s nothing else to do … for these guys to play football year-round is huge,” said Craig.

“The guys really love it, it’s just like playing outside, almost.”

Colette Voth was also at the facility with her family on Friday. Voth visits the field house often as her young son participates in a soccer league there.

“It doesn’t matter what age you are, you can find something to do here, all in one place,” she said.

“There’s something for everybody if they want to take
